In an alphabet scavenger hunt, kids look around to find objects that begin with different letters. It’s the ultimate way to reinforce literacy skills while making use of your surroundings — plus it’s easy, and fun. Happy hunting!

- Pen or pencil
Instructions
- Decide your parameters. Depending on your kiddos’ ages, you can try to find things that start with all 26 letters of the alphabet, the letters in your child’s name, or something else.
- Set a time limit. Give fifteen minutes, a half hour, or however long they’ll stay entertained!
- Go! Set your little free to hunt. Have them report back to you whenever they find something so you can check it off your list.
- Take snaps of each find — take pictures of the kids’ proud faces and save them in your journal!

0-12 Month-Olds: It’s easy to picnic with a baby! That said, if your little one is staying in the stroller while you snack, be sure your spot has plenty of shade.
12-24 Month-Olds: Don’t try to introduce new foods while picnicking — stick to stuff everyone already knows and loves, and don’t fret about it being fancy.
24+ Month-Olds: Keep a blanket in your car all summer long so that you can hold impromptu picnics. And always bring bubbles!
